March 1999 saw us tour Guys and Dolls, the classic 1950's musical. Brightly coloured and full of strong performances;  highlights included Janet’s performance as the out-of-key Salvation Army oddball, Martha, which was one of the high spots of the show.  All the way through, this sad, unattractive character had consistently sung off-pitch in every number she had been in.  The audience knew it; the cast knew it – and everyone dreaded her joining in!  And then, right at the end, she was given her chance for stardom – and boy, did she take it!  She erupted into an up-tempo, up-beat jazzy improvisation version of ‘Follow the Fold’ like no one had ever heard before, and not surprisingly brought the house down!

The combination of Floyd’s performance as Sky Masterson and Lorna’s Sarah Brown was magical whilst Chris Chedzey excelled as Nicely-Nicely, Angie Dymott shone with her rendition of ‘A person could develop a cold’, and Adam Parsons’ pratfalls were a little scary, how he didn't hurt himself we will never know!
