Synopsis

Ellie as Professor Jordan

This clever adaptation is lovingly based on the original Alfred Hitchcock film of the 1930s based on John Buchan's famous spy thriller starring Robert Donat and Madeleine Carroll. It centres round the exploits of Richard Hannay as he fights to clear his name of a murder he did not commit and discover the secret of The 39 Steps. But rather than a stiff portrayal of daring-do, the production is a riot of gags and caricatures that leaves audiences weak with laughter. All the famous scenes are here: the London Palladium, the Forth Bridge, the chase across the wild Scottish moors, all heading towards the thrilling climax. But what makes this an extra special farce is that all the parts, and the play claims that these number over a hundred, are played by just 4 actors. It has to be seen to be believed!
